Good safety/target school for an LAC applicant. How does it compare to other LACs? |
Very solid school, punches well above its weight. Nice kids, engaged professors. Known to give good merit. |
I know two families that sent kids to Wooster are were really pleased with the school. |
It’s a safety for my kid who is applying to SLACs and Dartmouth. I think it’s strong in the sciences, which I think is why she chose it. |
I should add, I did a virtual tour and it looked very nice, nicer than some higher-ranked LACs I’ve seen. |
Nice campus and good programs. Enjoyed our visit. Kid got better offer at a different school. |
I generally bristle at the term safety but this was basically my kid’s experience this past admissions cycle. Wooster plays the demonstrated interest game so I do think you have to engage with them a bit (virtually was fine for my DC). In our case that resulted in a pretty substantial merit offer. The admissions office also tried to woo DC into applying ED, FWIW. |
Two of the best and brightest kids I know are recent grads. Both studied bio and went to grad school. Very happy with their experience. |
Curious why Wooster would be the safety of choice over Denison (for Ohio LAC), Kenyon, or Oberlin? Nothing against Wooster, just wondering. |
Denison, Kenyon, and Oberlin are all a little harder to get into. |
Wooster is having serious financial issues. Beware |
Denison admits 17%. Kenyon/Oberlin 30%. Wooster admits 50%. Do you understand now? |
There is only one school on this list we'd take seriously as an undergrad institution when hiring at an elite law firm, and it has nothing to do with acceptance rates. Do you understand now? |
It’s Kenyon, right? |
Ohhh. Well if big law says it, it must be true of the whole world! Classic response. |
