Case Western Reserve Cleveland OH
If you or your kid attended after 2022, what did you or your kid like and not like? |
He hates that there's very little to do, to the point that he goes to the opera often enough that the people who work there know him. The food is shit, and not just on campus. Very little diversity in restaurants, very little fresh food. He hates how small the student body is - dated a girl for a month, broke up, next semester she's a TA in one of his classes. |
I know that liked to send tons of mail and email to my kid last cycle. To the point it was annoying. |
Merit! Saved a lot for med school! |
This school is a peer school to Penn, Northwestern, Brown, Vandy, and Yale, if you are sure about premed. |
lol |
No offense to CWRU, but heck no. Not even close. It is a very good school. But it is not a peer of those. Based on the few kids I know who applied, they hand out aid like candy, but even that tends to be to kids who didn't get into Ivies. There might be some overlap in applicants with those schools but unless money or something else is coming into place, no one is choosing Case over them. Nice, smart kids. Very good engineering. Not the ideal place to go to school but could be a lot worse as it is near a big city with sports, concerts, airport, etc and driveable from the east coast. |
For premed there is a lot of overlap. They give full ride to top kids, many 1550+ premed chose full ride merit over the above referenced peer schools. |
I say this gently but it might be more an issue with your specific student? I have a student at Case and his experience has been far, far different. He has definitely mentioned at how busy he is socially and how demanding his classes are (pre-med track and a recruited athlete), but has never complained that there is "little to do" |
Pre med and athlete will lead to No time for anything else. Tell your kid to join a club or work if he is bored. -DP |
Sounds like a wine. |
Sounds like your student should explore transferring. |
Cleveland is a more exciting place than places like Evanston, Durham, or Ithaca. |
Wasn't aware they give full rides. Most I've seen is $40-45k off $92k COA. |
Evanston is not too far from Chicago so much better |
