Is Frumin running again?

Anonymous
I have heard mixed messages about whether Frumin is running again. Is he?

If not, I imagine Goulet and the newish ANC 3C chair will jump in, as will Phil Thomas and Ben Begmann again.

Why wouldn't he? I mean, no one in Ward 3 particularly likes him and he's accomplished next to nothing, but it's extremely difficult to dislodge a Council incumbent because of a variety of reasons (voter apathy, too many opponents splitting the vote, etc.). If there were one viable opponent already announced who had scared away other challengers, I could see it. But not if it's Frumin vs. like six other people.

I generally agree with Matt and his office provides good constituent services, but he really hasn’t accomplished much in his time on the Council. Mary Cheh had an annoying tendency to talk out of both sides of her mouth, but was much more effective at getting things done.

Why wouldn't he? Well, he hasn't accomplished anything he said he would and has acquiesced whenever the going got tough. His heart certainly isn't in it. He is the dog who finally caught the mail truck.

Mary Chen, we miss you!

Would prefer someone else. Dont support his policies.

He probably will and continue to be an adorable log.

He’s weak and horrible.

OP here. I don't think he is horrible - but given Council's particular history, the bar is low. He is at least not a willing lapdog for the DC Chamber.

He’s a willing lapdog for the DSA, which is much, much worse

She would win in a crushing landslide if she chose to run again.

Oddly in the early 2000's we had a pretty decent Council. Carol Schwartz, David Cantania, Vincent Grey, Jim Graham, and Adrian Fenty were all serious people. Jack Evans wasn't the most ethical politician, but he was at least a sensible voice on the council. Now it's a clown show.

She was head of a very influential committee for 12 years. Frumin hasn't had any committee power at all.

But yes, I would expect he will run again and I expect he will win.

Adrian Fenty was not a serious person. He was a mediocre mayor who would have run into significant ethical issues if he had run again.
