I came to this board looking for information, and it almost seems like the majority of the posts are written by atheists—who often appear to be more emotionally charged than the religious posters.
I'm asking this with 100% sincerity and genuine curiosity: Why do you care enough to spend so much energy on this board? What motivates you to do that? I'm genuinely fascinated. |
As an atheist who has on a couple of occasions responded to posts on the religious forum, I can say that I (and many other people) spend nearly 100% of my time on DCUM in recent topics, not individual forums. So I’m not looking for religious threads, but I see them and sometimes feel like I have a relevant response. |
Because religion is bad for the world, and truth and facts are always best.
What motivates us is the same thing that motivates you. Do you not see the incredible irony of your post? |
I'm a recent topics lurker and I'll point out that multiple posts in the religion forum (including this one) are specifically directed at atheists. |
Why do you feel the need to ask this and post it here? |
Because in the US we have freedom of religion and freedom from religion and yet so much Christianity is imposed upon us in public settings. |
Agree, so tired of self righteous individuals from all backgrounds. A bunch of entitled arrogant idiots. |
Has to be the first time I'm on religious forum and I'm getting the heck out. Bye. |
I hope you do return so we can tell you how incredible valuable your thoughtful, erudite contribution was, and how you made this forum, and the world in general, a far better place for the rest of us. |
Because if you have't been paying attention, the rights of everyone is affected by religious pressure in American society.
|
This has been answered multiple times on here. The Religion Forum is to discuss religion, from all angles, and that includes the atheist and agnostic angles. The Religion Forum is not the playground of the Christian faithful. I hope you also don't mind the Muslims posting here? There are several.
|
Are you also trying to convince Muslims that there is no God? |
NP. As an ex-Muslim, all discussion is for everyone. I think it's weird that you associate discussion with "trying to convince." |
Also want to add that as an ex-Muslim, Muslims face "trying to convince" by Christians all day every day, in the United States. You may not realize it if you're a Christian in America, but it seems to me as though you lack basic awareness of the position of others. Or find it mildly ideologically threatening. |
I don't care how other religions practice their faith. I also don't care if athiests do not believe in God. I only care about practicing my own faith. However, for some reason there are those who insist on me "proving" that there is a God. Why? |
