Can anything pass with 51 votes now?
Add something with the budget so it only needs 51 votes? |
Where you been? |
They get one budget bill a year that isn’t subject to filibuster |
Yes, there is no more filibuster. If the Dems ever get control again, women's health, DC statehood and a host of other policies are on the table. Apparently it is ok for a president to ignore congress, so a dem president can dismantle ICE and reprogram ICE and defense money into other agencies and programs. |
Thank your hero Harry Reid. He brought us here. Now you get to see what the other side of it looks like. |
Ah, easy to blame Harry Reid without the full story...McConnell and the GOP had obfuscated and broken norms in stopping Obama appointments to the extent that the Chief Justice was concerned over the integrity of the judiciary branch and its ability to function. So McConnell and Rehnquist basically forced Reid into breaking the filibuster. Again, part of a multi decade game from the right to break norms, blame the left and take power. https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2013/11/why-harry-reid-went-nuclear/281728/ https://www.huffpost.com/entry/mitch-mcconnell-blocks-obama-laughs_n_5df32430e4b0deb78b517322 |
First filibusters of judges came from Democrats under George W Bush. The issue with McConnell vs Reid really had to do with Reid not allowing amendments, filling the tree, so they responded in other ways. |
Biden already did that. |
+1, during Biden’s train wreck administration , it was as if we didn’t have a border at all. |
lol no the dems will make up some excuse and ignore all that. We are were we are because Dems did not do anything when in power. |
Correct. We’re here because Dems didn’t do anything while in power, such as: Securing our borders Enforcing immigration laws Cutting taxes on working/middle class families Stimulating economic growth Incentivizing businesses to come back to the US establishing fairer trade practices with other countries Now Trump is taking the lead on this stuff, because Dems didn’t. That’s why he’s president. Again |
