I had a kidney stone and stent removed this morning, and a new stent placed. Prior to surgery, the doctor said I would likely be able to remove it with a string on Sunday. After surgery, he told my husband it needs to stay until Thursday. I will start my period sometime soon (4 weeks was yesterday, but I usually go a couple days over). I have a super heavy flow and typically use a cup. I feel like that string is going to get so gross - I don’t see any way of keeping it blood free. Advice? |
No idea but I have sympathy for you. Do NOT remove the stent yourself if you can help it. I did this and f-ed up my urethra leading to a series of UTIs and pelvic floor dysfunction for many years. |
Can you use tampons or would that risk accidentally pilling the wrong string? What is the stent one made of?
Agree that going to a provider to get it out is preferred. |
Keep a pitcher next to your toilet and rinse. Do what you can to feel clean. The doc will have no issues with a stained string. At. All. If the cup feels weird maybe thinx? |
Yeah, one of those peribottles to clean with after you use the toilet. There are also little spray bottles from preparation h with witch hazel which might be soothing with everything going on.
I’m sorry. But yeah, if you have to follow up with urologist, they have seen everything. I had to have some kidney test done with tubes up my pee pee while I was in my period. I was young and single and it was the only time my urologist had cute residents- hahaha. |
