Yard is full of big black flies - is it all the rain?

Giant flies have taken over my yard. I don't notice any dead animals. Is it all the rain? Anyone else seeing s surge in bigass flies?

| OP here. They're the regular big black flies. Horse flies I guess. |

| Horse flies are huge and sting. If it’s “house flies” there is likely something rotten nearby. |

| Happened to my yard too, also no specific "cause." The high point was about 2-3 weeks ago though when it was more rainy. |

Yeah, I'd noticed more lately, but then my husband mentioned finding maggots in the outside trash can 🤢
So Im guessing that lead to the recent uptick for us |
