Even before the recent heat wave, stores have been uncomfortably hot. I’m finding outside temps cooler. There are OSHA rules about workplace temps, I believe. I feel for the workers as B&M owners cheap out and keep stores looking dingy, hot and muggy, and likely thwarting these rules.
I don’t shop much, but I will do more drive up and online ordering for groceries. I’ll probably save more money this way too. Yep, sometimes, Bezos will be getting more money from me. Anyone else avoiding B&M stores especially due to the indoor climate? |
Um…where exactly are you funding unairconditioned nasty stores? |
I have no idea what you're talking about. I find the a/c so overboard in most stores that I have to put on a layer to go shopping. Especially at grocery stores.
Maybe you need to be more specific and name these stores with poor a/c. |
Over-air conditioned is the problem. Brrr. |
I find retail stores over-enthusiastically air conditioner and freezing. What stores are you finding hot, humid, and more than outside? No way |
Target for one. Even Walgreens and CVS. I have to pick up prescriptions for relatives. |
Obviously, you haven’t been in a brick and mortar store recently. |
I physically went into the Whole Foods in Fair Lakes the other day and it was disgusting. I hadn't been in a Whole Foods in years but my memory was of a clean, well kept store.
There were bugs everywhere in the produce area, and all the food display cases were fogged over. Huge line of people waiting to return packages. It just felt...not upscale any more. |
is yesterday recently? |
Ideal retail temps are 68-76 degrees with humidity between 20-60%. |
Yep. |
I have not stepped into a store feeling like it was a little relief from the heat. It’s like walking into a denser swamp. They have been far from cool let alone freezing. |
Enshittification strikes again! |
I used to shop at the WF in Clarendon ages ago, and it felt clean, upscale, produce was beautiful. I too ventured into the FL WF a few months ago and was completely grossed out! |
Towns/zip codes would be helpful. I’m in Target/CVS/Walgreens and I haven’t noticed this. Quite the opposite: stores are cold so I always bring a sweater. |
