DH is taking the kids to visit some family for 4-5 days in another state.

This has never happened before, what do I do during this time?

You do what you want!!!

I would do the following:
- clean the house (takes me 2 hours and I don't mind because I enjoy the peace) so I can enjoy the cleanest and calmest environment for a few days
- stock up on food I like and want to eat
- make plans for dinner/lunch with friends
- talk a long walk every morning knowing I don't have to drive anyone anywhere
- work the way I want (my work is super flexible so I might want to work less to have more time to myself or I might want to work more to not worry about working late...not sure)
- watch a LOT of tv (last time this happened I streamed a whole series just carrying my ipad around the house doing stuff)

I'm a homebody so I love when this happens.

Same except I don't like TV, but I'd listen to music while doing some things that I never get to like organizing projects.

My hubby has taken the kids to see his family without me before but unfortunately it didn't work it this year.

I don't think there's anything wrong with her staying home. Plus traveling with Dad will be exciting.

Definitely clean the house and enjoy a clean house for a few days (so rarely stays clean with young children)

Eat what you want and when you want

I would probably make plans with girlfriends, watch at least one chick-flick, maybe get a mani-pedi and maybe a massage, and just relax

Last time this happened (a couple years ago) I worked on a longstanding project related to my hobby. I sketched out my goals for the project carefully and dedicated a couple hours a day to working on it. Absolutely no regrets about how I spent such a rare opportunity!
