Do kids at summer swim team also do sleepaway camp? Summer swim team normally ends around mid/late July and school starts at late August in dmv area. Some families do vacation and down time before school starts. I have not seen any kids that I know do both summer swim and sleepaway camp. |
Mine do but it’s swim or other sports camps. |
My swimmer does two sleepaway camps. Navy Swim Camp in mid-June and a two-week overnight camp that starts at the end of July. |
Summer is typically ten weeks in FCPS.
When my kids were young enough for sleepaway camp our routine was. 6 weeks-summer babysitter and NVSL swim team. 2 weeks-camps…first we did day camps, but then we did sleep away camps. 1 week- family vacation. 1 week- grandparents visit/help with child care. The order of the last four weeks varied from year to year. |
There are sleep-sway camps in August |
We have kids on our team who do August sleep away. |
My child is doing a sleep-away camp that starts after all stars. |
Yes. We miss a week of swim team. It’s ok. |
Yep, we do. Second term month long camp in CO. Country club league swim team which just ended for us. It all works out. Last summer kid missed all the meets and was disappointed, so we did second term camp this year to fit it all in. |
My two kids do! |
Op here. The reason I am asking because my kids think it is too much to do both the schedule of summer swim practice and meets plus day camps (for childcare) and later sleepaway camp in the month of August. They want to stay home to relax and have time for vacations. |
Our pool clears out for August. Everyone goes away. |
So don’t do it. I fail to see the problem |
If you need childcare how are they going to stay home to relax? |
PP here. Just do swim team and then sleep away camp. I would nix the day camps....if you're already a member at a pool they can stay after practice, hang out with friends, etc and relax. If they are young and you need coverage, hire a teacher or college student looking for some extra money until they go to sleep away camp. Way cheaper than day camps (especially if you're also paying for sleep away)! |
