Chesterbrook sportsmanship

Anonymous
Starting a new thread since the other one really isn't fair to Overlee.

There have been concerns with sportsmanship from Chesterbrook throughout the years. Some have been dismissed as being intense and just part of competition, while others have clearly crossed the line. The reps and parents have tried to fix the issues when they came up. Is it an instance of a handful of problem kids and parents or is it part of the culture? One or two instances can be dismissed, but this is a trend every year.

Even the responses on this forum are an indication of the level of sportsmanship. How many posts did you read that claimed to be from an Overlee, Tuckahoe, DR, or OKM parent that were clearly from a CB swimmer, spouting nonsense, deflecting from any responsibility, and undermining the concept of sportsmanship as just a part of competition. Every team has the potential for stupid mistakes (e.g., 15-18 boys), but how can CB solve this?

It can't be just looking to the NVSL as some sort of policing body every time a kid steps out of line and it can't be grow up and get used to it.

I'm optimistic enough to leave this with the NVSL Board, particularly if they have the video in hand.

Clearly you guys are from other divisions and have never swam in division 1. I haven’t been on the intense teams in question (Chesterbrook) but as an alumn of a nameless d1 team (I don’t want to name because it always seems to be used against the poster) Chesterbrook has not crossed the line in about 20 years now. The new generation is a shadow of what it used to be in my time, I heard they weren’t even able to display a marvel character and are being unfairly targeted because people hate to see others who win. Also I think we all need to take a step back, this is a child’s swim team, not some major sports event, things are run by children for children why is everyone taking this so seriously. Maybe chill out next time, but keep the Jose posts coming they are #hilarious.

Is this actually the case? Have the coaches tried as well? I don't understand how it keeps happening if the adults in charge are holding kids, and each other, accountable for their behavior.

Why do you have to pick on kids?

Nice try, Chesterbrook troll.

Because Chesterbrook isn't the only D1 team that acts like idiots for 5 weeks in the summer.

They're the ones documented on film and with a formal complaint though.

Many other teams have had numerous formal complaints through the years. Why are we making a thread on this? Genuinely curious.

Tuckahoe and Overlee have stolen CB signs and props before. CB has stolen other teams signs as well. Not saying it’s right, but if you’re bringing up one side, the other one should be as well.

And apparently OKM won’t shake hands when they lose close meets.

Except there are actual pictures of them shaking hands…. That was likely a CB troll trying to say bad things about OKM to redirect the focus away from them and their behavior.
