We’re considering a move and are drawn to the IB and arts programs. Thoughts on LPHS as a neighborhood school option vs some of the suburban district? It seems like the CPS HS lottery is a crapshoot, so we’d like to have strong neighborhood options just in case. Thanks!
*lottery for the top magnets I mean
All the kids my kids know who went to LPHS went into the double honors program. That's a good back up for some of the kids who don't have the scores for the selective enrollment schools. Their arts program is decent. My daughter's friends who went to LPHS ended up at the same colleges as the kids at Lakeview, Payton, Northside, etc. In fact, the kids who went to Senn, Amudsen and Taft did too.
Colleges seem to like bright kids from CPS

There is no lottery for HS in Chicago FYI. You either test into Selective Enrollment, or test into choice. Lincoln Park double honors, etc is in the "choice" categories.
The tests ended yesterday so not sure what happens if you didn't test BUT all that to say - it's a great option, neighborhood or otherwise. |
Adding Lincoln Park double honors/arts is choice if you are outside the boundaries, I know you get a spot if you are in them but not sure about the accelerated programs.
