Did others get the email from osse that we have until July 11 to confirm bus transportation? This is going to go badly for so many people. |
I found it really easy to use. I emailed the school after a week as a gentle reminder that I was done and they verified it. I received confirmation from OSSE that everything was complete. At least for us (in a nonpublic) the ability to do it ourselves was significantly better. |
You speak, read, and write English, have a working computer, read your email regularly, and are unlikely to move (home or school) between now and the start of school. That's not true of a lot of DC families. It's a great idea as an option but a terrible idea as "do this by July 11 or lose transportation for the year" (as their original messaging said). |
I’m a DCPS teacher and my school helped families fill out the form. OSSE has also sent texts and emails and handed out flyers when they picked up the students from their care giver in the morning before school ended. They have open office hours and if you call the parent resource center they will fill it out for the parent.
I’m not sure what else you want them to do. The prior system didn’t work and they got sued for it. So now they are doing this system. |
I am a parent who has used this system and my child went back to school on July 1. Even though the portal is easy, and OSSE DOT sent text messages about the route ahead of time, my child's bus route has not been accurate and we have had a number of issues with the summer route that we never had before. Hope this is not your experience once you resume transportation. |
