I'll start.

Define “high scores.” |
1570/36 |
I noticed some of the SLACS seem to focus a bit more on test scores than GPA, per Naviance. UMD also likes high test scores, perhaps due to the grade inflation in MCPS. |
USC takes half its class test optional. |
True. But they still reward high scorers. I believe they also have merit for high scorers, or at least used to have. |
USCs avg test score is 1485 |
I think a school can have a low average score, at the same time rewarding high scorers. Among T30 test optional schools, USC is the only one that is willing to accept a high scorer while forgiving a weak part of an imperfect application, e.g., a lack of EC. |
Most state flagships
T-50 to T-100 for great merit aid |
Nice fiction I don’t think it’s true |
Georgetown — high scores seem necessary if not sufficient |
In test required schools, there is little or no competitive edge for high scorers. |
My observation in our school, may not be universally true. |
Sure there is; it is the bar that you need to jump to get into the pool. Overall high scored don't offer a real edge anywhere among the truly top schools. They are a filter but not an advantage. |
Agree, actually think ecs are super important at USC and they were turn down a higher stat applicant for one with well developed ec interest. |
