What’s normal for private elementary/middle schools? Our school has been out for 3 weeks (with final grades due from teachers before that), and still nothing.
Down south, we hit them a week into summer break at the latest. |
We've received ours, from two different schools. What you are describing seems unusual. |
DC was in 10th. Last exam was June 6, exams results were back on or before June 11, final grades posted June 14. |
We received ours last week. I assume 1 week after the last day for grades to be due. Then 1 week after that for report cards to show up in my mailbox. 3 weeks seems too long to me. |
I work in a public high school, and our grades are posted without delay, e.g., on the students' last day, which is the day after the students' last exam. My kid goes to a private school, and I know that the teachers work three days after the kids. The report cards, nonetheless, are delayed by 2-3 weeks. I'm sure the grades are long done, and the delay is a means to minimize drama and negotiations about grades. Look out for grades being posted on a Friday too. |
Private school. We just got them. 3 weeks after school ended. Teacher comments were two sentences. I think they wait to send to make sure that all staff are gone so parents don’t complain… |
Op - What are the appropriate amount of teacher comments in your opinion?
Find something positive— you received your child’s grades and your child’s teacher provided feedback. Isn’t that the goal of a report card? |
Private school. Middle schooler. Grades received about 8 days after school ended. Lengthy comments occurred at mid-semester, few comments for final grades as it it should be clear why grades are as they are and open gradebook was available for both child and parent to see. |
Last day of school was June 4 and grades were released on June 13. |
