Any clever ideas for how to find out?

Anonymous
DH birthday is this weekend. I am getting him new golf balls. Was going to stop on the way home tomorrow and grab some. I thought I knew the brand he told me he uses/wanted, but DS swears he thinks DH mentioned a different brand. Obviously if we just ask, he will know. In the grand scheme it doesn’t matter, but I think the element of surprise is more fun! Any ideas?

Doesn't he have some balls already you could look at?
If not, and he's all out of them, then get some of both brands. They aren't that expensive.

Just take a look at his balls.

He’s out, only has a bunch of different balls. The only way I can find out is to ask.

Get both, return one.

Text him something "oh I met a dog named Callaway today! isn't that cute? Like your favorite golf balls" then he can correct you.

Maybe find some excuse to play with a couple of his balls when he's around, bouncing them or something, and remark how some bounce higher than others or whatnot.
Ask what's the difference in them by brand?
Or ask how do they bounce so well, and the anatomy of the balls themselves. He will find your interest in them fun and be a good bonding experience. Maybe he will take you golfing or to a driving range to learn how to whack a few balls downrange.

I've always been intrigued by little golf balls how they bounce so much on hard surfaces compared to regular balls.

Hit submit prematurely. Wanted to add that once you are in the topic of golf balls, then you can casually ask which are the good balls and which are not as good to play with.

Do you have any photos or videos of him playing golf that you could blow up to see the kind he uses?

Get him the Titleist Pro VIs with the directional stripes. He will love them.

What's special about those? Just look cool?

Does he have a golfing buddy? Call the golfing buddy and ask.

Gift card. And play with his balls instead.

Buy them from his club pro shop. They might have a record of what he buys, but if not just explain and they’ll make sure he can swap them.
