Richard Simmons

I had a bleh day with the heat, cranky sick kids and stress over moving in 2 weeks. My darling friend also snapped a pic of me where I looked terrible! I thought, I got to work up a sweat but I have to stay home (sick kids!)

Anyway. Please don’t sleep on Richard Simmons’ workouts on YouTube. I got 33 minutes of cardio in. They get kind of hard!
From a Reddit thread:

I feel like I appreciate Richard Simmons so much better as an adult than I ever did as a kid. I remember people kind of treating him as a joke in some ways, but as a grown woman I'm like "this man positively glows with positivity and fun." Also, the video featured people of all sizes working out, which I thought was really cool and unusual compared to the videos that I usually watch where everyone is like a fitness model. Also, seeing people work out in 80's fashion and...like...button down shirts and jeans and skirts was hilarious.

Amen! Richard was treated as a joke, but he seemed to have been truly lovely person with a big heart.

He understood people and was able to spread love and joy with fitness.

I loved him so much. Even as a little kid, my mom would put me in front of his show and I'd be so happy. He was a great man.

I loved him as a kid too. So positive and he seemed to wear his heart on his sleeve.

We did Sweating to the oldies tapes in the early 2000s as kids at our house with no cable - so much fun

Him and Bob Ross were the shit when it came to happy vibes and self-confidence. The epitome of living in your glory. They just don’t do tv like that anymore. I feel sad for the current generation.

I loved following him on social media and was actually really sad when he passed. He genuinely cared about people and was such a positive light.

My entire 9th grade math class LOVED Bob Ross. We all went home after school, watched him and then talked about it in math the next morning. Our math teacher finally watched to know what we were going on about.
