I took my 12 yo and her friend to the K-pop ( Stray Kids concert) at Nationals Park on June 23,2025.
They had to end the concert at-least 30 mins before the scheduled time due to high temps and people fainting in the crowds. We were seated high up in the stands in the 400s.. and it was hot but we kept ourselves hydrated with lemonade and water the whole time. How was everyone else’s experience? |
I didn’t go but my daughter had a blast! Still felt like she got her moneys worth even with the encore being cut short. Apparently there were TEN songs planned for the encore??
I wonder why they didn’t forego the pyrotechnics given the temperature issues… she said she could feel the heat from the stage from where she was sitting (or jumping/ screaming as the case may be… Id be surprise if she ever sat down once they took the stage). The pit must have been unbearable, and I’m relieved no one got trampled. |
I’ve heard the same - people in the seats were fine, people in GA/standing were very much not. I’ve been to summer concerts at Nats Park and always had seats and was fine if a little hot and stuffy, but they were shows geared at older people (think Billy Joel lol), not tweens/teens and their families.
There was a lot of mismanagement on the part of, I guess Live Nation too. People who had the VIP sound check tickets were standing around all day and it apparently took hours to let people into the stadium for the concert. Again, not a huge concern if you had seats, but a big concern for GA. |
Oldest DD took my youngest DD. Youngest is a big kpop fan.
They were in the 200s and had an overhang to block a lot of the sun, so that helped tremendously. Oldest DD said she was also good about constantly making sure youngest was staying hydrated. Youngest is a T1D, so dehydration can cause her blood sugar to spike. She was allowed to carry a larger, non-clear bag in because it qualifies as medical supplies. She had juice boxes and some water in it as well as snacks. However, the concession nearest their section ran out of ice first and then ran out of water a bit later. That's inexcusable, IMO. I'm taking my sons to the Savannah Bananas gave tomorrow evening, so I hope they've figured out their failures by then. Oldest DD's good friend lives in a condo next to Nats park, so she invited them over to cool down and rehydrate after the show. Youngest DD had a blast and oldest DD said she had fun as well. As someone above said, oldest DD was wondering why they didn't tell them no pyrotechnics because even in the 200s, they could feel the heat blast whoosh up each time they went off. Oldest said she doesn't think they would have survived had they been in GA or even a section that didn't have an overhang to block some of the sun. |
OP here- thanks for sharing your experiences!
I agree about the pyrotechnics ( should have been cancelled or dialed down). We didn’t encounter the water or ice shortage- but that is inexcusable! Also, the organizers knew about this heat wave atleast a week in advance. having some large floor fans near the concessions to help people cool down, would have gone a long way in avoiding all the visiting and fainting. The exit from Nat Parks was a total disaster too- overall poor organization. The band itself and its members were amazing- and my daughter had an enjoyable time. |
OP again- sorry for all the typos..
