Dog boarding - 1 month

Does anyone have a recommendation for boarding our dog for a month? Looking for kennel or pet sitter to take care of our senior dog who essentially sleeps all day.

Do you have any friends that can watch her?

+1 there’s no chance I’d board my dog for a month. I’ve hired college kids of people I know to come and sleep at my house. $70 a day and worth the peace of mind. Second alternative is someone else’s private home.

Agree with the others. I would never board my dog for that long. Especially a senior dog. Check rover, check the local dog groups on Nextdoor; also there are some local dog groups on Facebook.

I feel guilty boarding my dog for less than a week. And you want to board a senior dog for a month? Ugh.

Your senior dog wants to stay home and get some pets throughout the day. Please don't board him/her.

I too think it is a bit harsh to board a senior dog for a month. Please have someone watch him in your home or theirs.

Call your vet. The vet techs who are college kids will stay at your home and watch your dog.

Please reconsider boarding a dog of any age for more than 5 or 6 days. Can traumatize the dog.

Much better to have someone stay in your home. If you are in their service area, KSR Petcare is great -- I've had them stay with my dogs several times. I worry about trusting someone off Rover.

I don't recommend a kennel because there is such a thing as canine herpes + there's a bunch of diseases that your dog can get from other dogs as well, especially if they're staying a month.

Dogs Day Farm in Damascus but you have to have an established business relationship with them; ie taking the dog there for day care on a somewhat regular basis. But if your dog likes other dogs, the place is fantastic.

Is that low for all those hours?

My sister had to go abroad for a month and her dog came to live with me for that time. I'd definitely see if you have any family or friends who would take the dog.

A month? You're heartless, OP.
