Where to find Mother of the Bride dress

My DC is getting married next spring - are there any shops that specialize in special occasion dresses in the DC area? The wedding is at a vineyard so I’m open to prints and brands like Zimmerman, Hale Bob or other less expensive options Looking for a place that has a variety of styles and price points so I can try on a bunch and compare.

A side comment. Is there a bridal dress? Wait until there is a venue booked, colors chosen, bridesmaids dresses chosen. If there is a Mother of the Bride, custom is that she picks out her dress before Mother of the Groom. If this applies. You want whatever you wear to look good or at least good-enough in group pictures, the length, the color, the degree of formality.

Love Couture in Potomac has bridal and mother-of-bride dresses (appointment required).

The selection of dresses is not great. Many of my friends either had to travel to NY or Philly or order dresses online. Nordstrom in Tysons has had the best selection of dresses out of the dept stores in Tysons.

You can order a bunch online (dept stores for easy returns) to determine the styles that suit you best. IMHO, don’t break the bank on this item. You will never wear it again.

Thanks for these answers. The couple got engaged last summer so the brides dress and bridesmaids colors are chosen - I can def start looking around at Tysons, and since I will need multiple dresses for the various events I thought I might even find a few on sale. When I got married years ago in Philadelphia my mom went to these wonderful dress shops where you could try on many things and get assistance with shoes and accessories etc.- basically style services. it seems those kinds of places are a thing of the past. I’ll start with Nordstrom- glad I have some time to figure this out.

Make sure MOB picks out dress first if you are MOG.

FYI: Some bridal stores also have MOB/MOG dresses.

Just wear a dress you like. Wedding dress shops are always tragic for MOB dresses.
