Explain like I'm a slow third grader - renting streaming movies

Anonymous
So I have Amazon Prime and some movies/tv series are free, and some are available to rent. How long are you renting them for? Unlimited watches? Is it just listed in your free to watch list for some amount of time and then disappears when that time is up? And just to be sure, you rent one movie only, right? Like you don't get unlimited streaming for the ones that cost money?

Also, for the people who sign up for a streaming service for just a short time, do you have a system to remember to cancel? I am new to all of this and want to understand before I spend a ton of money.

Usually you get access to the one film for 24 hours I think. So basically you can watch it once.

Most of them are for 48 hours.

One note of caution: AVOID renting movies on Prime! We've had many instances where the paid-for movies are incredibly dark and cannot be watched. I don't know why that is since the non-paid stuff is just fine on the same TV.

We rent our movies on YouTube now.

You may be able to pay for a channel for a month that has the movie you want, and much more. They are usually free for a month then you pay.
I usually pay for the channel while I’m watching a series, then quit. I often wait a few months for a $ rental movie, it often becomes free.

Have not had the “dark” experience. I watch my movies, series, etc on a Mac computer.

If you use prime for shipping, you often have credits for videos if you delayed shipping for a couple of days or combined orders. You might not have to pay.

The app literally tells you on the screen how long you are renting them for. Sometimes 24 or 48 hrs, sometimes a week.

Thats probably your tv. Never heard of that and we’ve had prime for 15+ years.

Girl just set a reminder on your phone or calendar. It’s not that hard.

You can either "rent" or "buy" a movie on Prime/streaming. If you rent it, you normally have to start watching it within a certain amount of time (72 hours?). Once you start watching it, it's available for 24 hours (might be a bit more) and you can watch it as many times as you want in that window.

If you buy a streaming movie, it's yours and you will always be able to access/stream it for no additional cost. (The price for this is comparable to buying a DVD, usually $15-$20.)

Movies and tv shows move in and out of being included with Prime streaming - it depends on the contract Amazon negotiates for each movie and what they prioritize.

This. The “rent” icon literally says how long next to it. And then when you click it, it says “you have 30 days to start watching this title. Once you start you will have 48 hours to finish it”. It’s not a mystery.

I use a $10 or $20 VISA card so if I forget to cancel, the service is stopped anyway.

Streaming is low quality and junk.

Part of the "You will own nothing and rent everything, forever!" WEF scam.

Not our experience at all. Maybe your internet connection or local network is subpar.

Look at the data. It cannot compete with hard copies 4K.
