No Beach Boys fans here?
I grew up in Southern California in the 70s and 80s and they were a big part of my childhood. I think seeing them after a baseball game was my first real concert. So I'm feeling the loss... but also surprised he lasted this long. He did some hard living. |
That last part. Dude had a REALLY long run. Good on him, and Godspeed. |
I hope he died in a peaceful way, in a peaceful state of mind. |
Big part of my childhood too, but he was 82 so it's not surprising. He was a great artist. |
Can’t stop thinking about the Barenaked Ladies song. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Ch84fmOa414 |
Truly gifted and truly troubled. They had a unique sound. Still means summer to me when I hear it. RIP |
So do I. He was so troubled but such a musical genius. I’m old enough to remember hearing the Beach Boys music when I was in college. Good times. You’ll be missed, Brian. |
I loved The Beach Boys, grew up listening to them.
I was lucky enough to see them in concert on the Mall one 4th of July. |
I saw this today. RIP. l don’t know how anyone could hear “God Only Knows” and not be in awe of him (and yes I know Carl sang it). Hos composition of Sloop John B. RIP |
^ His composition of Sloop John B is stunning. I’m only 50 so the Beach Boys weren’t a group I listened to as a teen up but my brain exploded listening to Pet Sounds as a 25 year old. |
Pet Sounds is a sublime collection of songs. I love Sloop John B. I really enjoyed the movie Love and Mercy. RIP, Brian Wilson. |
