Random crazy idea of coed elite professional soccer?
I personally would love to watch that and see how the game is played differently (if it is). |

Just need 2 rules to make high level coed soccer work.
1. When a girl scores its worth 2 goals not 1 2. When there's a foul players have to leave the game first 5-10 minutes (like hockey) This gives teams incentives to play girls and disincentivizes fouls and aggressive play. Which evens the playing field for girls. |
The first rule is ridiculous, because it seems to imply that the only important role on the team is scoring. It might incentivize teams to play female strikers, but does nothing for female defenders, or GK's. A more sensible rule is what other coed sports have, which is that a certain number of players on the field need to be female at any given point. Look at Ultimate frisbee, and water polo are two sports with a lot of coed leagues. The second rule just made me laugh. Yes, let's look at ice hockey as an example of how to reduce aggressive play, because it's definitely not an issue there! /s |
I always thought soccer should have a penalty limit like basketball. After x number of fouls you are out of the game. |
Soccer has 2, a yellow card, and a red card. |
| District Soccer https://districtsoccer.org/ has 7v7 men's, women's and coed leagues. Coed requires minimum 2 women on the field. Some of the divisions are pretty high quality. |
And if they didn’t know, it should be noted that if you get 2 yellows in the same you’ll be sent off with a red card. Sent off = ejected = player must leave field of play and team plays with a man down the remainder of the game (plus additional games after that depending on severity of the reason that caused player’s ejection) |
The PP was referring to normal fouls. Yellow and red cards are for egregious and dangerous fouls. You can foul someone 3 or 4 times in a soccer game before getting a Yellow card. It's up to the discretion of the ref. In basketball, you commit 6 fouls you're out of the game. Yellow cards equate to a technical foul in basketball. 2 technicals and you're done. A flagrant two in basketball is equivalent to a red card. |
