3.25 hours. On hard bleachers. Fifty bazillion awards given out one by one with each getting its own speaker.
Half the crowd getting up and walking out after their kid's name was read. Why was it move to a gym instead of the auditorium where it has been for years? Why werent the microphone's charged? Why was security screaming about people about parking? Who the hell was running this circus? What an absolute cluster. |
Assuming this is GW middle school in Alexandria, I think the default answer is always ACPS will always be ACPS |
I’m sorry, OP. That sounds terrible. It was probably moved to the gym because the auditorium wasn’t big enough. As someone squeezed out of the Hammond promotion last year (2 tix per family, and even then FCFS), that part I understand.
Microphone issues? That sounds par for the course, unfortunately. As far as people leaving after their own kid’s name was called, I assume that’s partly because it was too long and people just gave up. But I witnessed that at Hammond, and even as a guest in a different county, although to a much smaller degree. That seems to be a cultural thing. It’s a shame, as it really ruins the experience for everyone. |
The issue was probably the speaker for each award. My kid graduated from GWMS two years ago, and it was about an hour and 15 mins. They called each kid's name, but there was not a speaker for each award. |
Graduation for middle school is ridiculous. |
It was awful, which is too bad. It didn't help to start 30 minutes late.
I can't imagine what ACHS graduation will be like. |
ACHS graduation is at GMU, where they are paying by the hour and it moves along quickly after the tedious speeches! |
So is anyone able to name the individual in charge of this blunder? |
