We are inheriting one dog, possibly two from a family member who passed away. DH and I both have had dogs growing up and are comfortable around them, and we know these two particular dogs well.
We recently bought a new car and would like to keep it in good shape. We also want to be sure the dog(s) are/is safe in the car. We do a fair amount of driving, as we have a little cabin a few hours from the DMV. The dogs are mutts, each around 50, maybe 55 pounds. What are your favorite car accessories? |
SleepyPod - they are actually crash tested/ |
A good dog crate obviously. |
I have kurgo crash tested harness abs a kurgo booster for my pugs. A god vacuum is also nice. Make peace with the fact your car will have dog hair—or in my case a lot of it.
A collapsible water bowl is a good idea too—maybe a wagon depending on their mobility. |
Cargo area.
I put a sheet over the backseat of the car that hangs down into the cargo area. I cut tiny holes in it for the headrests. This helps hold it in place too. Stops slobber being on the seat and down the back. |
We have a backseat cover from weather tech, and they also sell a divider to keep dogs in the backseat - it hangs from the front seat head rests and attaches at the bottom part of the seats too. Both are great. |
