River Park Nursery School has spots available for the 2025-2026 school year! River Park is a small, play-based, part-time preschool located steps from the Capitol. The school runs 3-4 days per week from 8:45-12:45 and is able to admit children as soon as they turn three (mid-year is fine). It is a great option to ease into the school experience in a warm and loving environment. River Park has been educating young children on the Hill for over fifty years and is located at 212 East Capitol St. NE.

The lead teacher, Ms. Jeni, has a Masters degree in education and a spirit of joy and adventure with the kids. She crafts their days based on the interests of the class, seamlessly incorporating letters, numbers, art, movement, science experiments, and field trips, while leaving plenty of time for imaginative play and outdoor time. This year they learned about community helpers, visiting the fire station and postal museum, getting a visit from the Capitol Police, and meeting the neighborhood and recycling collectors and delivery drivers. They learned about flowers and plants, visiting the arboretum and botanical gardens, making seed bombs, and watching their favorite tree change through the seasons. They made their own self-portraits, focusing on how each child is unique, and too many other things to list. It really is a unicorn school.
