Remote workers (former) - specific question for you…

1. If you were working remotely and were required to report to an office within 50 miles and are now working in-person full time.
2. And your SF-50 includes the city where you worked remotely/now report to the office.

3. Were you required to get an extension of your remote work agreement (does your agency still consider you remote)?

Thoughts on this? I’m trying to figure out how long I can count on this scenario of being able to live outside of DC and report to my local office. Thanks!

3. No, no new agreement. My duty station is now a local office. I signed a new situational telework agreement. Yes, my agency still considers me remote, but my SF 50 reflects the address of the office in which I’m working.

And to answer your question, I wouldn’t expect your situation to change as long as you’re not at risk for RIF. I don’t expect mine to.

Same here except I am no longer a remote employee, I was relocated to my office.

I’m honestly not sure - when you say formally classified as a remote employee, what do you mean? I guess I’m still remote but just working from a local office.

A satellite office is not remote work. As long as you are doing your T&A accurately, showing up, and not exceeding 24 hours telework over 2 PPs, you are staying.

Yes, as long as your group is not subject to a reorg/RIF I would expect it to continue. My duty station was changed, the “field office” is small and not at all related to my section, it’s an unpleasant commute, I don’t like it at all, and I don’t expect it to change. They’re more likely to wear me down this way than forcing an official relocation to DC. My timesheet says I’m “in office.”

How would they know if you don’t go in and just work from home? Maybe not everyday but once or twice a week?

OP here. Not telework, because I go into an office. But remote work was defined by OPM as not going into an office either. That’s what am asking… is this no longer remote now that they sent us into an office and made it our official duty station on my SF50?

But is forcing an official relocation to DC something you think they can do? How? Just arbitrarily change your duty station on your SF50?

Any other fed workers who used to be remote still living in the “remote” city and reporting to their agency’s local office every day?

How long will this continue? Is this your permanent duty station now? Or could they force you back to DC even if you’re reporting in to work at your official duty station, per your SF50?

All of the remote workers at my agency had to either move to DC or quit. Relocation was not paid either.
