We are traveling to the UK for vacation in a few weeks. In addition to the underground, we will need to take trains to Cambridge and also to the Harry Potter Museum.
Am I understanding correctly that if I book "off peak flex" tickets, we can travel on any off-peak train that day? For example, to Cambridge it looks like we will book on Great Northern. If I book us the "off peak day return" ticket, do I understand correctly that as long as we travel after 9:15am (when peak ends) and we come and go the same day, this ticket will work even if it's not the exact train time I select? I am particularly concerned with the return time because I don't know exactly when we will come back. If I select "open return" we can return for up to a month, which we don't need and that adds a considerable cost to the ticket, whereas if I select an "off peak flex" return it's much cheaper. |
Yes, your understanding is correct. |
That is what we did recently. We went to Harry Potter Studios on a Sunday and I booked the off peak tickets. We took back a different timed train than we thought we would without any issues. |
OP here. Thanks so much. |
OP here. I thought of another question. How long did you end up staying at the museum, approximately? Did you eat there? |
Our tickets were around 12:30pm (I wanted to get them for a bit earlier but earlier times were all sold out by the time I was ready to buy them), so we ate right when we got there. There is a cafeteria near where you enter the building. The food was decent. We left around 3:30pm-4pm. I could have stayed a bit longer but my daughter was ready to go so we went through more quickly once we hit the area with the Night Bus and Privet Drive. |
