Mattress topper options

Anonymous
My mom is in her mid 80s and has bad sciatica pain. She has purchased 2 different mattresses in the last 3 years and is thinking of buying another. She wants a softer bed in hopes she will rest better.
I would like to have her try a topper first to see if that helps. She absolutely does not want a memory foam topper. Does anyone have a suggestion? When I look online there are so many choices. She needs soft but something that doesn't swallow her up and make it hard to turn over.

Maybe a latex topper?

Latex. I just got a 2 inch soft topper from Sleep On Latex to go with the medium mattress I purchased from them. I needed firm yet comfortable (history of low back problems while also pregnant so needed something soft for my joints when side sleeping). You can contact them and they can recommend the right setup for you based on your current mattress, weight, height and concerns.

This is difficult as mattress comfort is very much an individual preference IMO. We use a very firm latex mattress with a separate latex topper. Every several years we buy new topper. This works for us but there can be a little of the “swallow you up”.
