Hi, my wife and I are looking for a preschool for our 2.5 year old son. He is currently in a home daycare. We are looking predominantly in McLean or eastern great falls. We are familiar with eastern ridge school and would love options similar to that school. Is McLean children’s academy or any other school similar? Would love recent and relevant experience. Would consider Arlington or falls church city area for the right fit and culture. Thanks! |
I will summarize some options, but use the search function to find the numerous older threads in McLean and GF preschool options.
There is the preschool on the green at GF. McLean has Country Day (on Georgetown Pike), McLean Montessori (on Kirby near Old Dominion), brooksfield School (rents from an Episcopal church on Kirby only thru June 2025 and then is moving to rent from Lewinsviille Presbyterian on Chain Bridge Rd), Lewinsville Montessori (on Great Falls St; they rent their space from the county), Westgate Children's center (also rents space from the county and is in same building as Lewinsville Montessori). Trinity Methodist on 123, Redeemer Lutheran on Chain Bridge at Westmoreland. I think Langley School (private; not the public HS) starts at age 4. There are sime options in N Arlington and Tysons/Vienna, but not sure of the current list. |
The only 12-month preschool options in McLean are Lewinsville Montessori and Westgate Children's Center. These competitors both rent from the county in the same building on Great Falls Street. Each of these has its own good fenced outdoor play areas.
This can be important for middle-class families where both parents work outside the home and there is no nanny/au-pair. Wealthy families in McLean/GF usually seem to have a nanny or au pair. HHI in McLean/GF is more variable than some on DCUM realize. |
This thread probably belongs in the Preschools forum. OP might want to use the report button to have the moderator move the thread there. |
