Mountainhead on Max

So obnoxious.

It’s reviewed in NYT if you’re interested

it was so good. Absolutely scarily accurate. I think the Atlantic wrote it was less like a satire and more a "horror documentary."

But really funny.

Terrible. I am a HUGE succession fan and was looking forward to this but I stopped watching after the first hour and even that was pushing it. Painfully awful.

I stopped it after 30 mins. It was unwatchable and terrible.

We found it unwatchable, quit about 10 minutes in. The dialogue was wooden and insufferable.

Currently midwatch, sticking with it but finding it impossible to understand what the characters are talking about except in the broadest sense.

It seems much more like a play/theater production than a movie.

Watched + found it interesting

OP here: I made it through about 65 minutes before I fell asleep on Sunday. I love Succession too, but the writing for this was just bad.

I know these guys are supposed to be insufferable narcissists, but there's a legion of young men who will watch Mountainhead and try to emulate the dumb antics. Sorta like how Gordon Gecko or Patrick Bateman became a hero to financial guys IRL.

Painful to watch. So disappointed. So over the top trying to satirize tech bro culture.

I miss Silicon Valley. That was great satire.

It's not as good as Sucession. I don't think Ramy Youseff can act.

Love Succession and listen to All In podcast. So was intrigued to watch Mountainhead. Agree the dialogue was difficult to follow, the acting was not great but the plot was fascinating. The ending was awful though. Very disappointed I wasted my time.

The dialogue is scarily similar to what you hear in an all-in podcast or Marc Andreesen podcast. (I’m ashamed to admit I can recognize this.)

I remember an All-in episode from the beginning of the Ukraine war where someone (Chamath maybe?) was explaining the upside, net-net, from a potential nuclear weapon detonation event. He was explaining how it would clear out the dross and reset our economy, for the greater good. Chilling.
