How do you think 2026 admissions will look?

With this unpredictable and worrisome administration in office, do you think there will be an effect on the next round of college admissions? If so, how?

Colleges that don't normally have a very large percentage of international students will suffer a less shocking impact from this administration and may offer a more predictable and steady experience for the next few years until we can get rid of this Maga clown.

Most parents will worry about financial uncertainties than anything else. In-state public schools will be a lot more popular.

Smaller college class sizes, we might even see colleges reposition to have long term reduced sizes, many less students in financial aid getting spots, fewer international students, more endowment dollars put towards research and potentially colleges omitting research experiences from their tours/websites, higher demand for low-cost majors (humanities, social sciences and stem programs that don’t require extensive lab equipment)

One of the worst years for financial aid, wouldn’t be surprised if colleges reduce their Questbridge scholars and take more students from boarding schools

TACO in the end except for Chinese and some Middle Eastern applicants. It will be business as usual for most others.

No, every expert is saying that class sizes will increase at schools due to the budget cuts and threats of financial cuts from Trump. Tuition will go up AND more students will be added into already large classes to gain more tuition dollars to offset some of the funding cuts. The teacher student ration will get worse. There will also be some brain drain and professor attrition to great schools outside the US (such as the international relations trio of Prof's leaving Yale to join U of Toronto).

So college will cost more, classes will be bigger, and we may lose some great profs.

Also there will be cost cutting everywhere to recover some of the missing funds.

If you’re reducing financial aid spending, you can shrink your class sizes and demand less professors leading to layoffs for non tenure track faculty. Right now they’re spending hundreds of millions to get kids financial aid. They could easily gain revenue by just accepting full pay students and reserving a very limited portion of the budget to the poor.

Not much change at the top 50. Less financial aid available, schools will take more full pay candidates.

Population decline will start but it is not an actual cliff so still plenty of applicants for not enough slots. Colleges on the margins will begin to teeter and close.

For DCUMers same as the last 5 or so years.

Gonna be a tough year for Ferrari dealerships in some college towns.

Sorry a lot of people love him!! We are very very quiet Trumpers. Our liberal neighborhood would be so surprised!!

You think you're quiet but everyone can tell.

You can't. I was shocked to learn my tree-hugging environmental neighbor was MAGA. You'd never know in a million years.

That's something to be quite proud of.

Why so quiet? You should be proud of what you love.
