Forever on Netflix

Is anyone else watching? I just finished the first episode and love it so far. Regina King directed the first episode, and the two leads are great. I never read the book but I have enjoyed Judy Blume’s other books.

I thought it was cute and very realistic and well done.

I binged it the day it came out. It was so good, and the cast was great. I've also watched some interviews on YouTube with the two leads; they are adorable and have great chemistry. I thought the ending was perfect, and it's already been renewed for season 2, so I'm excited about that.

what age is this appropriate for? I remember reading the book in HS - it is about losing your virginity?

I’m watching it by myself first and then will see. It is about sex for sure. First episode could start some good conversations about sharing images, videos etc and bullying that results.

I thought it was boring. I wanted to like it.

It’s definitely mature but it probably is realistic to high school first love for gen z and hits some important topics in a responsible way.

It didn't come up on mine and I'm a bit surprised

Thanks for reminding me it's on, OP!

I think it's perfect for middle school age and up, but I realize every family is different and some people may not be comfortable discussing these type of issues with their kids at that age. Common Sense Media says 14 and up.

I love everything Mara Brock Akil does, including this series.

How much shown v said? Example summer I turned pretty there was a lot more shown than was in book as relates to sexual content. For a lot of these the book may be age appropriate for younger age range than the show as shows seem to add more profanity and visual sexual content to grab other viewers.

I would say it shows more than summer I turned pretty.

I just finished this and loved it. It would be a good watch with a teen, brings up lots of good issues, and the leads do not always make the best choices, though they are not bad kids. They are also awkward teens, which you don’t always see but is good to see.
