Whitman cluster looks unimpacted.
WJ cluster gets screwed. |
Yes. And this is one reason why it’s entirely fair for people to complain about property value impact. Because some are bearing a huge brunt of it while others don’t have to. future options need to balance the impact to the WJ area better. |
Wj doesn’t get screwed. The new school was for the parents concerned about overcrowding. |
Clusters feeding to WJ get screwed. |
How so? ( I'm in wyngate which stays wj in all 4 options but am not understanding why option 1 is bad for wj) |
Option 3 has Farmland getting bussed out to Kennedy and Garrett Park getting bussed to Wheaton. Other schools getting bussed same distance to Woodward from Eastern part of county. |
Option 3 is a non-starter. They don't have the budget for it. |
When has that ever mattered? |
Option 3 has random spots not connected to the rest of the district. It’s really odd.
Also has huge impact on property values for Kensington and Chevy Chase view although at that point Einstein has a very different demographic so impact might not be as bad long term. For us, BCC was pretty close. Einstein or WJ are definitely not. |
Every big boundary study has had a ridiculous option like that that doesn't move forward. It's there to make the other options more appealing. |
Whitman is not overcrowded like WJ (doesn't have a problem that needs solving). Also, see walk zone - it's not likely to take kids who can walk to Whitman (within 2 miles is what is included in the walk zone), and bus them somewhere else. -WJ parent who has kids in this way too big school |
This entire boundary study is because of the overcrowding at WJ and the need for a new high school to alleviate it. So yes WJ is 100% going to be impacted. Whitman is in fact under capacity due in part to so many families going private within their boundary and will not have the issues BCC has with the development of multi family housing creating overcrowding. So yes, Whitman should be left alone. |
