Initial boundary options for Woodward study area are up

My preference is option 3 and I can't wait to see the discussions on it

(We are currently zoned for Einstein and that doesn't seem like it will change)

Facility utilization is best on two and three, from a quick glance.

Man, I didn't realize just how massive the variation in EML/FARMS is between high schools right now, and these options barely touch it (even option 3, which looks like it does the most to balance those factors, still has really large disparities)...

Yeah it's really bad. And I suspect the disparities will just get worse and worse as the people who are coming to MoCo these days are either very high income or very low income.

2 or 4 seem like the best options

it's the zoning. That's why MoCo is trying really hard to change zoning laws.

Option 1- What is with the neighborhood carve-out off of Tuckerman (adjacent to Woodward property) zoned for Silver Creek and not Tilden?

No it's not. It's affordability. Zoning SFHs for multi-family? Watch the further tax base erode.

Anyone know what they're going for with option 4? Looks like a lot of change, a lot of split articulation, demographic disparities the same or worse, and utilization isn't that great. What's the selling point there?

That would break MCPS.

They can't change affordability, and the reason why it's unaffordable is because we don't have a lot of housing in the higher income areas. Hence the zoning to mfu.

It is not up to schools to social engineer this.

You are right. We shouldn't intentionally keep the richest Kensington families in SFHs separate from the lower income ones in the apartments on University. Social engineering is what is currently happening.
