An email just came from MCPS to Blair families encouraging us to attend the upcoming info meetings. The subject line says: BIG Change you need to know about For Montgomery Blair High School Families - Next Week: Additional Boundary Study Engagement Sessions

What’s up for Blair families specifically?

I have kids at Blair and Einstein, and both sent out the exact same message.

Hmm, think there is anything to be concerned about? I live in Takoma Park and have and 8th and 10th grader. I thought it highly unlikely that they’d reassign Takoma Park.

Takoma Park is safe.

Boundaries for like 2/3 of the county could change but no one knows the details yet. We'll see the first preliminary options next week.

Every school got a similar message, OP. MCPS just wants to get the word out so that no parent then complains that they weren't able to contribute. This has happened in the past, for previous boundary study meetings, so they want to cover themselves.

Past meetings have had predictable over-representation from the more affluent areas. They are hoping for some semblance of parity.

+1. BOE members specifically asked staff to blast the communications very widely so that people don't think they don't have to pay attention if they don't live near Woodward.

Where and when are the meetings happening? We are not currently in the public high school system, but will be in the fall of 2026 and I'm very interested to know what the changes will be and when they take effect.

Fall '27 is when the changes will start. Here's the MCPS boundary study web site. Most of the High Schools in the county are involved, but there are a few that are not.
