Tryout No Show?

Anonymous
DC no longer plans to attend the tryout (she has already accepted an offer), but I can't find a way to cancel her registration in the system or figure out whom to contact. Should she just not show up on the tryout day? She will most likely try out for that club next year.

They all have tons of no shows, don't worry about it

It's not a problem at all. And there are no bad marks for not showing up for a tryout. Your DC will be fine to tryout out for that club next year.

Don't feel bad not showing up. It is very common. You will not hear anything back from the club unless they somehow had data on your player and wanted them to be on a specific team. More likely you'll eventually hear back that they were rejected from all travel teams (because you didn't show up.)

Not judging just curious. Why would your kid plan on one club this year but another one next year?
I’m new to travel soccer, DD is U13 and went to a practice and they took her on. She likes the other girls and is improving. I have no plans to look elsewhere, so just wondering what your thought process is?

Maybe PP’s kid is accepting an offer from their current club. Or maybe they needed to accept an offer in hand rather than wait for the tryouts at the other club, because the other club’s tryouts weren’t going to be over before they needed to give the first club a decision. That happened to my kid this year. They got an offer from a team they liked that did their tryouts pretty early. They had planned to try out at a different club too, but that club’s tryouts weren’t even starting until a couple of weeks after the other club’s tryouts had wrapped up. You can ask for extra time, but at some point, you have to give them a decision. It was also less clear whether DC would make the level of team that they were looking for. Passing up the first offer felt like too much of a risk.

Being new to soccer, be ready to tryout at multiple clubs next your if you weren't planning to do so. With the age change coming, every club, every team will be affected.
