Monitor set up for work from home

Anonymous
I work from home and am finally setting up a full home office.

I bought a very big desk because I want two monitors, because I often spend time comparing documents and otherwise needing multiple windows open at once.

But I also really like to have a tv on when I'm working because I like the background noise. So ideally, one of my monitors can function both as a laptop monitor (for when i need the two screens) but also can run a Firestick for when i'm not using it as a monitor.

Does this set up exist? How do i go about doing this?

Just my thoughts, not a tech genius.

1) I am able to stream XfinityTV through a web browser, so you could do something like that in the background as a small window and still even use the monitor for work related functions. Downside is if you need to so Zoom Calls, etc, you would need to pause the stream.

2) I guess you could plug in a firestick and change inputs of the monitor back and forth from the firestick to the laptop if you want to use it for work stuff. Monitor would need speaker built in for the firestick audio.

3) Use an iPad or other tablet to stream the TV stuff. Or even a phone if you just want background noise.

Have two flatscreen desktop monitors and a flatscreen TV mounted on the wall facing you.

I have two widescreen monitors on my desk and use the entire screen real estate all the time, for multiple pdfs or docs and email open at the same time.

Get a 3rd screen for the tv, either a regular tv or an additional monitor. The dual monitor setup for work gets used, you won't have an extra screen.

I've never used a firestick, so no advice there. However, Samsung sells smart montiors that you can flip back and forth as a monitor and tv.

I purchased a M80C over a year ago, and have been pretty happy with it. I mostly use it as a monitor though.

have your laptop/desktop with an hdmi plugged in to it. you would need a powered monitor with a seperate cable and hdmi input. to use as a second monitor, just connect your computer to the monitor via hdmi. otherwise you can use a streaming stick and plug it in to a hdmi port on the monitor, it then becomes a tv.

You just need to go to FiOS.com, comcast.com, or youtubetv.com, amazon.com, or whatever streaming service you use to watch TV on the computer.
