Its so silly to call it fully funded as what does that even mean? Schools are falling apart. Not enough security. No textbooks or other basics. |
Good. Now is not the time to raise taxes when so many moco residents have lost their jobs. |
That’s a good thing. The school system needs to be better stewards of the tax money. I’m for raising teachers salaries and utilizing the money that will directly benefit our kids. I’m opposed to bloat, useless contracts and wasting money on improving and experimental, curriculums and programs. |
They’ll never stop asking for more money. |
I agree. MCPS has demonstrated horrible ROI thus far. |
Guess where the funds are coming from?! You won’t believe it |
The article says: "The funding would be made possible by reallocating money from the school system’s retiree health benefit trust, according to officials." |
Another dumb move. |
The school system should decide how to make up the 0.2 difference, not council. |
And don’t forget golden parachutes for failed superintendents! 🪂 |
Certainly not clawed back from the many special interest giveaways & tax breaks that the County Council has enacted. |
What percentage did the council fund last year? Is this more? |

Does anyone know how many million short this is and what they might cut to close the gap? Based on the math it looks like maybe $6-$9M short? |
