Metformin side effects - timing

I've been prescribed Metformin. I've read diarrhea is a common side effect.
So....if I take it with dinner, when would I expect to have that side effect? That night? The next day? would love any insight so I can plan for the first few weeks. |

| When I was on it, I took it at night. No issues. Woke up, had a BM (not diarrhea), moved on with my day. |
