I'm planning a trip from NYC to Vienna, VA (or Washington, DC area works too), and I'm looking into bus options. Has anyone recently taken a bus on this route?
Which companies are reliable right now, and which ones offer the best prices or comfort? Any tips or companies to avoid would be super helpful. Thanks in advance! |
I've taken them all. Flix, mega, and Best. They are all good enough. One gives you a free water bottle. I think it was Flix with the nicer bus. |
Have you checked Amtrak? North East Regional often has decent rates, especially if you book early enough. Regardless, you’d take a bus or train to DC and then take the metro to Vienna. While the Town of Vienna is walkable to some restaurants and shops, it is not walkable to the metro and heavily car dependent, fyi. |
Thank you for the advice. I usually prefer taking the bus, but I'll look into Amtrak as well. |
When we did Go Bus, the bus one direction was old and noisy and the other was much nicer, so you may not be able to fully control what you get. |
I took a bus from NYC to Vienna that left about 3 or 4 pm and we were 2 hours late getting home because we got stuck in NYC rush hour traffic. Bus was not crowded but I’ve switched to Amtrak regional coach which is more comfortable and always on time. |
Amtrak regional is always on time??? Lollll |
+1 Quite easy and it's a lot less $ than Amtrak |
Best Bus was great going from Vienna to NYC. Fast. Easy. On time. I would take it again. I assume the route reverses.
It was my first time taking a bus to NYC from DC area. |
