Loaded gun at GHS

Saw on IG that a 15 year old was arrested at GHS at 1:11pm this afternoon for having a loaded gun with no serial # yet no lockdown was called. Is this true?

Yes. Just read about it on Facebook. GHS parents found out via Facebook before they received a letter from the school. Meanwhile lots of mcps texts today about boundary studies. And no lockdown or shelter in place at GHS.

15-Year-Old Arrested at Gaithersburg High School for Loaded Handgun Possession

The Gaithersburg Police Department (GBPD) arrested a 15-year-old student at Gaithersburg High School on Thursday for possession of a loaded, privately manufactured handgun on school property.

According to GBPD, “On Thursday, May 8, 2025, at approximately 1:11 p.m., a Community Engagement Officer from the Gaithersburg Police Department was called to Gaithersburg High School located in the 100 block of Education Boulevard for an investigation. During the course of the investigation, officers and school staff made contact with the 15-year-old, and officers conducted a search, and located a loaded handgun. Based on the information provided and the recovery of the handgun, officers arrested the 15-year-old.

The 15-year-old was transported to the Gaithersburg Police Department station where he was charged with underage possession of a firearm, possession of a loaded handgun, possession of a dangerous weapon on school property, and possession of a firearm without a serial number.”

Don’t hold your breath expecting MCPS to be honest and transparent about this incident.

My DD also 15 read it on Instagram and doesn’t even go to that school and is so scared. Like how does this all go down without a lockdown? How do other students/parents find out on social media and NOT school administration.

No lockdown, no communication, no safety! My friends who are Gaithersburg parents are angry and concerned at the lack of transparency. The kids are angry too as they should be and they should be the ones who speak up the loudest because they didn’t find out until 8 PM either.

Everyone is still too busy treating Taylor with kid gloves. At what point will people hold Taylor and Marcus Jones accountable?

Those parents need to go public with their anger. Talk to the media, show up at board meetings, etc. Being privately angry is how MCPS gets away with its crap continuously.
