Muh-CAP (MCAP)

Anonymous
How do your school's teachers/staff pronounce this test? I had only every heard it pronounced like the medical exam (M-CAP) at our prior school. But this year, we are at a new school, and the principal/staff say Muh-CAP, which an emphasis on the second syllable.

So what say you -- M-CAP or Muh-CAP?

Em-cap
Kids are 15 and 20. Never heard the other one.

The exam is EM-cap. Muh-CAP is the principals ' union, MCAAP.

OP here. The principal of our school (and now teachers/staff, who are following suit) definitely call the state-mandatred test Muh-CAP. (They probably also pronounce the union that way, but they have never said that in front of me.)

Wow, they're stupid. Doesn't bode well for instruction at that school.

OP here. I’m glad I was not the only one thinking this pronunciation was off. Thank you for settling it.
