Every other week I get together with 4 colleagues for half an hour virtually to connect and support each other. Sometimes we talk about work, but mostly we just chat about life. We all live in different parts of the world but have similar roles in our organization. One woman is going on maternity leave soon, and I would like to use one of our meetings for a virtual baby shower for her. Can you help with ideas for something special for her? It doesn't need to take the full 30 mins, because we can just chat as usual. I'm not good at these type of things, so would appreciate some tips. |
I would have flowers and a cake delivered during that half hour. Send gifts prior and tell her not to open until you tell her to. |
If you wanted to do a party game, I enjoyed doing an online race scavenger hunt as a work from home teambuilding activity.
First one to return with all the objects or most objects from the list wins. |
That could be fun! |
Yes, that's just what you want - a heavily pregnant woman whose balance is off running around her house to find random crap, then tripping and falling face forward. |
Send a baby present for her to open during the 30 minute call.
Ugh, I had to participate in a virtual scavenger hunt back in 2020. Yuck, don’t do this. |
When o had my first doing COVID, I had someone in the company organize and instead of gifts, I asked everyone for one piece of advice or a story about their own kids (like one minute each). Those that didn’t have a kid (one or two) told a story about themselves or a niece or whatever. It was actually lovely, and a good way to get to know some people a little more outside of work. |
