Summer school registration

What is the procedure for summer school registration? What do we do to enroll?

Have your kid contact their counselor. Apparently counselors register students which is stupid. Why can't parents do it on ParentVue and counselor can verify?

Is there? There was virtual summer school during covid virtual learning summers and in local ES subsequent summers.

Oh it was online through ParentVue last year. It is a pain that we have to do it through the counselor this year. I just sent an email to get that process started.

Do you know why they changed it for this year? Were the affluent loading up on courses during the summer taking away seats from others? Or is there no cap for summer courses?

It looks like they cut back in person for HS to only one school in less your school offers something more. Otherwise its online. Most don't upload on courses but do things like health ed so they can take more electives.

How do we even know what summer classes are available? For Churchill, I just found a website from 2012... My kid will be in 9th grade next year. Apparently some of his friends are registering for random classes we were told they couldn't register for during the Open House. I'd just like slightly less lying from MCPS... sigh...

So did everyone already enrol? Even for rising 9th graders? If so, was this just by talking to counselors?

No. I got a confirmation that my kid was registered but haven’t gotten a bill.

Same here - no invoice, and nothing showing up on the school cash online system yet.
