Just got our basement redone and will be adding a TV just before Easter. Would like to hook it up to our Fios cable/internet but don’t know if an additional mod is needed or just the cable wires. Will have to call Verizon obviously but just wondering what else we should be prepared to provide. |
We needed to get a second (Verizon) box, but I seem to recall it was cheaper than the main floor box/DVR. |
Is there a one-time fee, or is there a recurring charge added to our monthly bill? |
If you login to your Verizon account, you can see your monthly bill and it should be itemized. |
We ditched all the extra boxes that we had and use the streaming app through our Smart TV. We just have a single box on our main TV.
We have Xfinity, so we have Roku streaming devices. When I looked into this for my parents on Verizon, I believe they needed a Amazon Fire Stick or Apple TV. Xfinity was dinging us like $10/box/month buying a cheap Roku stick paid for itself quickly or when we bought a new TV, we made sure it had Roku built in. |
OP, you do not need a Verizon box or cable wires - use the Verizon streaming app on the basement TV. It is free, unlike the $10 they charge for the box. |
Dumb the FIOS TV and switch to YouTube TV. Much more user friendly and no clunky boxes. |
