Sarah McBride tells Democrats to stop infighting and stop demanding ideological purity, and stop taking the bait from social conservatives and crushing themselves.
https://www.lgbtqnation.com/2025/03/sarah-mcbride-says-democrats-should-be-more-open-to-opponents-of-trans-rights/ Everyone has to make a sacrifice to get through difficult times. Changing hearts and minds and social structures and physical facilities takes time. Compromise on sports. Compromise on bathrooms. "It's not fair" just isn't a strong enough argument. It's too subjective. Play to win, not be be a righteous loser. Sometimes the better option is to wait out the old generation, not give them ammo to inflame a new generation. Sometimes you have to be a martyr for your cause, because you can't win by force of will. Progressives, the goal is to make continual progress, not be rigid absolutists ther ignores the feelings and actual power of opponents. "The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice. " -MLK Be good, but be smart. It's not too late. |
Gen Z is far more conservative on this issue than the Millennials. |
Transgender wasn't a thing when we were growing up. Gen Z has been exposed to it and doesn't like it. Are they going to show up at every girl's athletic event, look at me, look at me, I exist and I can jump higher, run faster, swim faster... That is going to get old real fast. Pretty soon all of professional women's sports are going to consist of transletes. Yes, there aren't that many trans people, but there aren't that many professional women athletes either. |
Ignorant, irrational hotheads like PP would rather rage against their delusional fever dreams than find peaceful coexistence in reality. It's terrible but that's where we are.

Transgender absolutely was a thing when you were growing up. How did transgender people exist years ago? They moved. They changed their outward appearance as much as they could without hormones, and they moved locations. They lived in their new location as their new preferred gender. And oftentimes, those who did not move but chose to live as the opposite gender in their same location where they were born were beat and killed. Transgender WAS a thing when you were growing up. Transgender wasn't as accepted as it is now. Saying something wasn't a 'thing' back then is false. These people have always existed in some form, they just weren't accepted. Spinsters = lesbians. Your great aunt who lived with her roommate Agnes for 35 years? Lesbian. Your uncle Tom who never married and brought different male friends to Thanksgiving dinner every few years? Gay. They just weren't accepted by society, so they did what they needed to do to get by: they had lifelong roommates. Depression, anxiety, ADD/ADHD, and autism have also always existed. They just weren't recognized by most of society. My dad never got any diagnosis of autism or OCD, but he's 76 years old and will have a meltdown if his food touches. He also has to eat his food in order. If he has mashed potatoes, steak, and green beans, he must eat all steak then all green beans and then all potatoes. He also needs to wipe down his fork after each food to prepare it for the next food. All items have a correct assigned place in our house, too. And again, if too many items get put back out of place = meltdown time. He has SO many other rituals he does daily, too. But when I was diagnosed with OCD and anxiety in my early 20s he said, "I don't know where you get this from. We don't have mental problems in our family." You. It's you, big guy. |
Sports are unimportant. |
Sports are obviously more important to transwomen and Democrats than winning elections is. |
So much is being done by executive order these days. But the Republicans made sure to get a Senate vote on this issue. 45 Democratic Senators voted for biological males in the girls’ locker room. How isbthis playing in Peoria? How will this affect Democrats in the midterms? |
The issue with sports is that transgender kids end up not playing sports at all. So there has to be a nuanced conversation that we have to make space for transgender kids to participate in sports according to their gender identity. At the same time, at the highest levels of competition, it is fundamentally unfair and exclusionary to girls if a transgender girl is always winning. So where do you draw the line? In most states there is a process for addressing complaints of this sort and a decision can be made to prevent that individual from competing, which is unfortunate but probably necessary.
Of course, it is impossible to have a nuanced conversation about transgender people in sports with people who hate that transgender people exist at all. |
But this makes McBride's point. In today's world, the "spinster" lesbian aunt and never-married Uncle Tom are now openly married to their partners and most (not all but most) people ---even in rural areas---accept it. But it took from the late 1970s until the mid 2010s to get there and it happened incrementally and as a generational shift. And yes, GenZ is more conservative. My college athlete DD does not want to play against biological post-pubescent males. Nor does she want to walk into "gender neutral" restrooms which still have urinals and be faced, as she put it, "with looking at some guy's d*c$ before my 8 am class". (this happened at her school, which went for the "gender neutral" restrooms but didn't convert everything to a stall situation). |
This would actually be the ideal situation because then you could have competitions specifically for transgender women, while also having traditional women's sports. The problem right now is there are so few transgender women competing at this level there is not a critical mass to have competitions for them. I don't think that is likely to change, frankly, so I think you have to tell them they can compete with men if they are competing at high levels. |
I think she is sick of being bullied and trying to neutralize the GOP’s genitalia obsession so we can move on.
I for one lost about 10% of my net worth since January and would prefer the GOP stop obliterating what is left. |
This is hilarious. Even a real life transwoman, someone who literally became the opposite sex by surgically removing her male genitalia, thinks Democrat support for trans folks has gone too far and is hurting us with voters. If we can’t take this good advice from Sarah McBride herself, our party is doomed. |
Sarah McBride is a wise woman. She knows that the only way to neutralize the GOP’s genitalia obsession is for Democrats to back down. As ling as we keep advocating for trans folks, the GOP is going to “help us” publicize it. |
The chance of a woman rising up the ranks is significantly higher if she was a college athlete. 80 percent of Fortune 500 executives and 94 percent of C-suite women were collegiate athletes. |
