Sweaters/Tops that are appropriate weight/heaviness for New England end of March/First week of April

We will be in New England at the end of the month. How heavy do my sweaters and tops need to be to stay warm?

go to vineyard vines and get their light cashmere!

It really depends. There could be a freak snowstorm, or it could be feeling like spring.

It is always good to have layers in case. So jeans with a short sleeve shirt and then bring several weights of tops. One more like a athletic wear hoodie, then sweatshirt pullover or fleece, others more like wool or cashmere.

LL Bean is good for warm tops as well as Holebrook Sweden.

And are we talking Connecticut or up north?

Like pp said, it’s the luck of the draw - this past week, the highs were in the 30s, and this coming week, they are supposed to be in the 50s. You should definitely pack layers. A wind-stopping jacket is also a great idea, because it’s been very breezy for the last few weeks.

Pack for DC in February.

This is a slight crapshoot. “New England” is a large area. Weather will vary depending on location and the whim of Mother Nature. More than likely, like a PP said, layers is what you want. Hard shell (rain), mid and/or light weight fleece and base layer should do it.

Not having a windbreaker in New England is like not having socks and underwear.

Agree with what everyone else has said - depends where you're going to be, and depends on the weather gods.

In short: bring layers.

It depends on how long you’re going to be outside.

If you are going to Vermont I'd pack for winter weather. If you are going to Boston it could be winter, it could be spring. If you are going to western CT it will be about 5 degrees cooler than here.

It will be kind of like this week and last week here. Cold and windy one day, 60 a couple of days later. Check the weather before you go.

It’s going to be about like it is here now. Plan for layers, a sweater with a jacket, it will be warmish during the day but cold at night. If you’re near the water it will be cold daytime too.

Don't forget a puffer which is waterproof and has a hood, as well as gloves and a scarf in case.
