Can someone explain this to me? Is it a diploma requirement? Is it just for the seal of excellence? Also, my child told me he would need 100 hours, but I read somewhere that it’s 50 hours. Can someone point me to the info? Also, any guidance on how to document service hours would be appreciated! |
I’ve never heard of a service hours requirement for APS— only for honors societies. |
Lots of volunteer opportunities pop up saying they’re eligible as service hours and it has some connection to earning a diploma. Anyone???? |
Why don't you just reach out to their counselor? |
Well, what does it say about the connecting to eating a diploma? I’ve only ever heard of service hours being needed for NHS and the other honors societies. FCPS requires them, but I’ve never heard that APS does, and I’ve sat through multiple presentations about graduation requirements. It looks like there are some diploma seals one can earn via service hours, though: https://catalog.apsva.us/graduation-requirements |
Are those volunteer opportunities only available to APS kids? I volunteer at a local organization that provides volunteer opportunities to high school kids, but those kids attend a variety of public and private schools, not just APS. There is no requirement for volunteer hours to earn a high school diploma in APS. |
