If you take one credit of PE through virtual virginia the summer before freshman year, do they still make you take PE as a freshman to get that other credit? The guidance counselor at my DC's middle school was not sure. The guidance counselor did say that DC needs to sign up for PE and the high school guidance counselor will update things later if he passes the virtual virginia class - at that point is it too late to add another elective? Thanks |
No, you don't have to take PE as a freshman. You take an extra elective. My child didn't choose their elective until after school started. The guidance counselor wasn't responsive over the summer, but it all worked out. |
There is PE 9 and PE 10. You would take PE 9 in the summer and skip it during 9th grade. |
Yes to above. However, the class is not very useful and makes you wonder why PE 9 and 10 are required in the first place. Walking to or from a parking spot daily pretty much fulfills the activity requirement. |
OP here - thanks all! One more question - I went on the website today to enroll my kid in virtual PE and could not figure out how to register him. Does his school guidance counselor have to do it? |
Not sure if it's APS county-wide but we had to go through the counselor to enroll. |
You have to register through APS, not VV. Registration via APS begins March 3. |
